What is Visual Snow?

I often receive questions about the abundance of dots, circles, and patterns in my work. These elements are inspired by a visual phenomenon called visual snow, which I experience daily.

In my vision, tiny dots move and flash, layering over everything I see. It’s far more colorful and dynamic than any simulation can convey! Above, I’ve included a few mock-ups to help visualize it, but imagine the colors brighter and the noise denser—constant, shifting, and vibrant.

This experience shapes my art profoundly, and I’m planning a new body of work to explore it in more depth. I hope these pieces can also raise awareness about visual snow, a condition that challenges many people who develop it later in life. For those individuals, coping can be incredibly difficult, and the cause remains unknown. Art can be a powerful tool to share these perspectives and hopefully foster more understanding of the unique way some of us see the world.
