Pattern Play Study V celebrates the quiet elegance of organic design. In this piece, rich, deep blue tones are layered with delicate white marks that trace across the surface in a flowing, rhythmic pattern. Inspired by the naturally occurring repetitions seen in everything from microscopic plant cells to fish scales and water ripples, this work invites slow looking and thoughtful reflection.
Part of an ongoing series exploring pattern and repetition, this work draws on the meditative process of mark-making. Each hand-drawn form is slightly varied, resulting in a field of subtle movement. The result is both soothing and visually engaging - a piece that works equally well in minimalist interiors or more eclectic, layered spaces.
