‘Wave Study II’ continues Jennifer Bell’s exploration of the sea through minimalist abstraction. Using carefully placed white dots against a deep blue, nearly black background, this piece evokes both stillness and subtle movement — a delicate balance that mirrors the meditative energy of the ocean.
Each dot functions as a small gesture, creating a quiet rhythm across the surface. The result is a composition that feels both expansive and intimate, drawing the viewer into a gentle current of form and flow. The contrast between light and dark adds depth and dimension, suggesting moonlight on water or bubbles drifting through deep ocean layers.
Part of the ongoing “Wave Study” series, this work reflects Jennifer’s signature mark-making style and her sensitivity to texture, repetition, and pattern. Her creative process is shaped by her experience with visual snow, a condition that influences the way she interprets movement and light — giving her artworks a uniquely immersive quality.
Created using acrylic and ink on 100% post-consumer recycled paper, ‘Wave Study II’ embodies a thoughtful, environmentally conscious approach to artmaking.
