‘Wave Study III’ is a meditative exploration of the sea, using only flowing white lines to trace the subtle movement of water. Set against a rich blue backdrop, the continuous marks shift and fold with organic precision — evoking ocean currents, gentle swells, and the quiet tension between surface and depth.
Part of Jennifer Bell’s ongoing “Wave Study” series, this piece represents her minimalist approach to interpreting natural forms through rhythm and repetition. Influenced by her personal experience with visual snow, Jennifer’s work often plays with layers of perception, using mark-making as a means to represent the constant, shifting nature of the visual world.
The simplicity of the white linework belies the complexity of the composition. Each stroke suggests motion — the silent pull of a tide or the hypnotic rise and fall of waves. This artwork offers a quiet presence, ideal for serene, contemplative spaces or interiors inspired by nature and coastal palettes.
Made with acrylic and ink on 100% post-consumer recycled paper, ‘Wave Study III’ combines artistic intention with sustainable practice.
